FP's Rules for Conducting Meetings

So you are off to another meeting...

As you go to this meeting, the first thing on your mind should be the cost of holding a meeting. Look around the room, figure out the salaries of all participants, then do the calculation of how much your meeting is costing your company. If that doesn't shorten your meeting to fifteen minutes, the following list should...

Ask yourself, "Is this frippin meeting really necessary?" Or should I just get my work done and go home early?

Have an agenda, and stick to it.

Brainstorming is a total waste of time. Do your research and be prepared to discuss actual well-thought out possibilities. People work better with each other when everyone is prepared!

If you don't have something helpful or constructive to say, please keep your frippin mouth shut. If this is difficult, you should repeat the mantra, "The less I say, the faster this meeting is over!"

Watch the folks at your meeting. If anyone is doodling, the meeting is a frippin waste of time!

Have a plan to follow through. Merely stating something doesn't mean that it is going to happen!

Have your meeting standing up! This one comes from my friend, Matt. It works, and is awesome.

More to come when I have time.

See ya!
